Many tourists have to try the fish while here as it's some of the freshest in all of Ireland. Despite this town not being that big, there's always a lot of activity going on, especially in The Square.

Glengarriff

This town is located on Bantry Bay. It's known for its backdrop of both the mountains and the sea. Here you will find some of Beara Peninsula's nicest galleries and shops. The area's known for its tranquility and its restaurants. One of the more popular things to do is to play golf at the 9-hole golf course that offers outstanding views of the harbor.

The Cable Car

There is only one cable car in Ireland and it's located on the Beara Peninsula. It was first built to bring riders from Dursey to the mainland. Visitors can ride on it and get a spectacular view of the landscape down below.

Walking And Biking

A popular way to get around the peninsula is by walking or biking. It's actually a popular spot to go backpacking and there are many hostels around the peninsula that cater to backpackers. The Beara Way has an easily accessible route that is marked with black and yellow markers so visitors can easily find their way around. There is also the Beara Cycling Route for those that want to rent a bike and ride it around.

Adrigole

This village is around 6 miles long and is located on Bantry Bay. One of the most scenic parts here is the pebble beach. Nearby are the Caha mountains that are fairly easy to walk. Hungry Hill is also worth the trek as you can see the highest waterfall in Ireland, Mares Tail Waterfall. Visitors can also see the lakes of Coomadavillig and Coomarkane. Other places to visit nearby include the mountains of South Kerry and Tim Healy Pass. For those that want to stay at a central location, Adrigole is the perfect spot as it's located about halfway through Castletownbere and Glengarriff.
